Wrting from the Antagonist Point of View with Maria Ann Green

Writing from the antagonist point of view can be a challenge. Today's guest is best selling author Maria Ann Green. She is the author of eight books in the thriller and romance genres, and she talks about how she approaches this challenge.

So many of the books I read and even write come from the hero's perspective. When Maria reached out to me and mentioned she could talk about this topic, I jumped at the chance. There is just something so interesting about making your villain the main character.

This episode is full of helpful information if you are tackling a story from this perspective. Writing a flawed yet relatable character is key to succeeding in this endeavor.

1. Don't second guess yourself.
2. Make them three dimensional.
3. Find a way to get into the mindset.

Take a scene and write it from a different perspective or a different genre. If you have written from the hero's point of view, write from your villain's. If you have written a romance turn that scene into a thriller.
